Personal Injury Lawyers in Michigan Lawyers Weekly 2011 Highest Verdicts for Car Accident and Truck Accident Lawsuits

January 26th, 2012

Farmington Hills, MI (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

Michigan Auto Law has again made it on the Michigan Lawyers Weekly year-end list of the top-reported verdicts, says Steven M. Gursten, personal injury lawyer and head of Farmington Hills-based Michigan Auto Law.

According to the newspaper, the law firm received the second top-reported verdict for a car accident case and second top-reported verdict for a truck accident case in Michigan for 2011.

“This marks the 15th consecutive year that a personal injury lawyer from Michigan Auto Law has made the Michigan Lawyers Weekly list for earning the top auto accident verdict or settlement for one of our clients,” said Gursten, who also serves as President of the Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers Association.

“Its an honor for the attorneys here who work so hard for our clients,” Gursten added. “And with 50,000 lawyers in Michigan, and several thousand lawyers practicing personal injury law, it’s also nice to say that no other personal injury law firm has been featured on the list 15 straight years for the highest-reported car and truck accident verdicts and settlements.”

Below is more information on Michigan Auto Law’s top auto verdicts for 2011, according to the year-end report on highest-reported trial verdicts from Michigan Lawyers Weekly:

Transportation company disputes extent of injures from truck accident (Sand v. Towles Transport, Inc., et al. (Docket. No. 09-021549 NI ): Leonard M. Koltonow received a $ 1.45 million truck accident verdict for his client in Wayne County Circuit Court.

The truck accident occurred when the defendant’s semi-truck struck a highway overpass, causing the load he was carrying to spill onto the freeway. The plaintiff Larry Sand couldn’t avoid the spilled contents, and suffered several injuries from the truck crash, such as a neck injury and shoulder injury requiring surgeries, and mild traumatic brain injury.

The defense tried to argue that the plaintiff Sand, who was a longtime tradesman, had preexisting conditions and injuries. The jury rejected these arguments and testimony from seven defense experts at trial and found the plaintiff will never work again due to his serious personal injuries.

The highest defense offer before trial was $ 400,000.

Auto accident victim’s future as dental hygienist is disputed (Hannay v. Michigan Department of Transportation (Docket No. 09-1360-NI): David E. Christensen and Sarah S. Stempky received a $ 1.4 million verdict on behalf of their client in Ingham County Circuit Court.

Plaintiff Heather Hannay was driving and was hit by a salt truck driven by an MDOT employee who ran a stop sign. Hannay sustained serious shoulder and neck injuries that prevented her from working in her planned career as a dental hygienist.

The defense lawyers contended that the plaintiff was not entitled to recover lost wages and work loss damages based upon a full dental hygienist salary, as she was not yet working in that capacity. Hannay was going to school to be a hygienist and also training at the dentist’s office where she was employed.

The court concluded that the plaintiff proved that she could only work part time and awarded a $ 1.4 million verdict.

About Steven M. Gursten: Steven M. Gursten is recognized as one of the nations top personal injury lawyers handling serious auto accident lawsuits and truck accident cases. He is president of the Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyers Association and lectures to attorneys across the country about various legal topics, such as traumatic brain injury.

January 16th, 2012

Fenton & Maryland Heights, MO (PRWEB) January 12, 2012

Two Anthem College campuses in Maryland Heights and Fenton will host Open Houses next Wednesday, January 18, from 9 am to 8 pm.

Anthem College will kick-off 2012 with a strong, positive message about the value of education, says Maryland Heights Campus President Heidi Wind.

Students at Anthem College, formerly Allied College, get the education and training to meet the demands of the modern allied health/healthcare field. They learn in both classrooms and labs designed to look like real-world facilities. Anthem is different, says Suzanne Marshall-Caby, Campus President for the Fenton school. Our students are not traditional college students. Many have families, jobs, or both. We set class and lab schedules to work with them, not against them, and give them the flexibility they need to keep up their personal responsibilities.

We also teach our programs one class at a time, typically over a four-week period, to let students focus on learning and not cram for exams, Wind adds.

Both campuses are waiving application fees to all students who apply by January 18.

The Colleges offer the following programs:

????Massage Therapy (Diploma, Associate of Applied Science)
????Medical Assistant (Diploma, Associate of Applied Science)

For Your New Year’s Resolution, Enhance Your Smile

January 5th, 2012

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 03, 2012

Los Angeles cosmetic dentist, Dr. Kevin Sands, has all of the necessary experience and expertise to enhance anyone’s smile for the New Year. Whether the resolution is to straighten crooked teeth, improve the shape and look of damaged teeth, or to brighten dull, yellowed, stained teeth, the New Year is the perfect time to get a smile makeover. This dentist in Los Angeles has the most up-to-date solutions for virtually any type of dental issue.

Most people find that, over time, their teeth lose their original luster. This is a common problem for many people that may be a result of factors like age, a genetic predisposition to off-white teeth, a genetic proclivity to thin or translucent teeth, smoking, consuming certain foods and beverages, taking medications, tooth grinding or tooth trauma. Modern teeth whitening procedures make it possible for everyone to have beautiful, white teeth. The quickest and easiest approach is zoom whitening. Using a combination of peroxide gel and a special light, the teeth are whitened in less than one hour. The average patient will leave the office with teeth that are eight shades lighter.

More serious dental issues, like teeth that are misshapen, damaged or missing, can also be fixed. People with missing teeth may be given dental implants. These are artificial teeth that are secured into the mouth to replace the missing teeth. To alter the appearance and shape of misaligned teeth, there are porcelain veneers. Basically, they are thin shells that are customized to cover the existing teeth, thus improving the appearance. Lumineers are the most advanced method to correct misaligned, chipped or even discolored teeth.

Holiday Block Party at Redondo Shores Plaza Turns an Ordinary Day into an Holiday Extravaganza

December 25th, 2011

Redondo Beach, CA (PRWEB) December 21, 2011

In a city where busy lifestyles, commuting and errand-running seem to consume the day, Redondo Shores invites locals to slow down to spend quality time with family to celebrate the season with a Holiday Block Party.

The otherwise packed parking lot at Redondo Shores became the platform for the fun-filled event. Family, friends & neighbors all gathered together to share the day in a full-of-activity environment. Santa came all the way from the north pole to visit bringing an array of entertainment …holiday music, a drum circle, face painting, balloon art, kids yoga, The Redondo Beach Artist Group, prizes and more. Sponsored by Haagen Management Company of El Segundo, this otherwise typical shopping plaza was transformed into a mini carnival to thank its customers for their patronage throughout the year.

On the surface, you could see lots of families in line to meet Santa, kids getting their face painted, participating in free yoga classes or families striking a pose by the Christmas tree. But on a deeper level, it was about building new relationships, being involved in community events, and the importance of having kids interact and be active while they play and learn. FREE was the word of the day; whether it was free Spinning? passes, GroovyKids Yoga, peppermint milkshakes, wheatgrass shots, free pizza or free photos with Santaeverybody was in a giving mood.

Small businesses like Childs Play Toys, The European Wax Center, Pure Barre, Lady Lacy Lingerie and Studio Pulse, together with larger businesses like Whole Foods Market, Centinela Feed & Pet Supplies, Cop-A-Tan Tanning, Fresh Brothers and more furnished the parking lot with their offerings, prizes and raffles.

Its refreshing to stumble on such a cool event, says Jake Andersen, new resident of Redondo Beach. I went to Whole Foods with my boys to pick up a few things and left an hour later with two very happy toddlers! Next year I will look out for this and spread the word.

Redondo Beach is a place where neighbors still introduce themselves and everyone around you makes you feel welcomed, whether you have been living here for years or are new to the area. Redondo Shores Shopping Center is in favor of keeping small beach towns cozy. These events help create intimate atmospheres and encourage the involvement of small family-owned businesses to keep the unique feel of this South Bay neighborhood.

Redondo Shores Shopping Center is home to over 30 unique businesses. Located on North Pacific Coast Highway, the center is convenient, easily accessible from all directions and offers free parking. Whole Foods and Rite Aid, the anchors of the center, draw its share of traffic, but youll find its the small businesses that give it its charm. It has the right mix to help you accomplish your shopping needs in one day with one stop. Boasting itself as the Center for Health & Wellness, youll find three boutique fitness studios offering, Spinning? classes at Studio Pulse, Pure Barre and Vital Balance Pilates. From services such as dry cleaning, watch repair and a nail salon to restaurants like, Fresh Brothers, La Salsa and Dickeys Barbecue, youll quickly find a reason to make this shopping plaza your first and last stop for holiday and routine shopping throughout the year.

fiteBac SkinCare Germicidal Hand Softening Gel a Hand Sanitizer Breakthrough Technology

December 15th, 2011

Marietta, GA (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

fiteBac SkinCare, LLC, a subsidiary of Kimmerling Holdings Group, LLC (KHG), a Georgia-based biotech company that has developed an antimicrobial intellectual property platform technology, has announced that it has launched what it expects will be a new standard in hand hygiene, fiteBac SkinCare Germicidal Hand Softening Gel. The Company is excited that it has brought to market an innovative hand sanitizer that is skin friendly and will encourage hand hygiene compliance among healthcare professionals, which will help in the effort to reduce healthcare associated infections, a huge burden on patient health, life and healthcare costs.

The key to the fiteBac Gel is its patent pending technology that is comprised of a unique combination of a non-alcohol based antimicrobial formulation, together with a silicone-based cross polymer that provides hydrophobic properties that improve the skins moisture barrier and keep the skin velvety soft, even after frequent hand washing or glove use. fiteBac SkinCare believes its technology will help reverse the trend of skin damage associated with frequent use of soaps and traditional sanitizers. The fiteBac Gel is paraffin-free, water-free, unscented, petroleum-free, and alcohol free. The vision of the inventor, former Dow Corning chemist, John Blizzard, was to create a sanitizer without the harmful side effects linked to other traditional hand sanitizers.?

Frequent use of gloves, traditional hand hygiene products, and exposure to contaminants or unforgiving elements is a major problem in healthcare. These conditions remove lipids and skin oils and result in dryness and irritation. Skin damaged by these conditions can harbor increased levels of microorganisms, so the potential for spread of infection increases in those suffering from this condition. fiteBac SkinCare believes hand hygiene products and protocols are contributing to skin damage and due to the damage professionals are less motivated to use them as directed. By using its Gel, professionals will not suffer from the painful drying and cracking of skin for which traditional sanitizers and protocols are notorious.

fiteBac SkinCare has consistently received very positive feedback from those that have used the innovative Gel, along the lines of the following: “The product is incredible.? It kills bacteria and germs while allowing my hands to stay soft and supple.? I have used a lot of hand sanitizers during my nursing career, and this product is far superior to any I have used. My hands have never been in better shape” says Jean El Guindi, registered nurse from Marietta, GA.

fiteBac SkinCare believes its Gel, while particularly beneficial to professionals and staff in hospitals, doctor offices, dental offices, and nursing homes, will also be of significant benefit to professionals and staff in schools, banks, retail stores, airports and numerous other public facilities, in addition to helping every day consumers maintain good hand hygiene practices. Its very optimistic that by encouraging hand hygiene compliance its product will reduce spread of infection and help to make a significant reduction in healthcare associated infections and related costs.

About fiteBac SkinCare, LLC and KHG

fiteBac SkinCare, LLC is a subsidiary company of Kimmerling Holdings Group, LLC (KHG), a Georgia-based biotech company that has developed an antimicrobial platform intellectual property technology. ?KHG was founded in 2009 by two ambitious professionals, Kirk Kimmerling, DDS and Dan Kearney. The two set out to create products to “change the world, one product at a time.” Kirk and Dan first targeted bacterial issues in dentistry, knowing that solving those problems would lead to dramatic improvements in oral health, and more importantly, systemic bodily health. ?They engaged a team of brilliant chemists and scientists retired from Fortune 500 companies and researchers from major universities. In doing do, KHG has developed technology with several patents pending that has application well beyond dental materials, and has exciting potential in medical, plastic, composite, coating and other applications that are in various stages of development, some close to commercialization. fiteBac SkinCare Hand Softening Gel is the first product to be released under the fiteBac brand name. ?
